BlackRock is going all in on Ethereum
In June, BlackRock – the world’s largest asset manager – began accumulating Ethereum at an unprecedented pace. Over 200000 ETH, worth more than 570 million dollars, was purchased in just two weeks, according to blockchain analytics and ETF inflow data (Finbold).
These were not isolated purchases. ETH was bought daily, sometimes in amounts close to 30000 ETH in a single day.
Nearly 28000 ETH purchased in a single day
On June 5, BlackRock bought 27846 ETH in one transaction, worth approximately 34.7 million dollars. This was one of the largest single day acquisitions so far and added significantly to their growing ETH holdings (The Coin Republic).
June 24: Two massive ETH buys in under an hour
After a temporary sale of 9928 ETH on June 23, BlackRock was quick to buy again. On June 24, the firm executed two large transactions via Coinbase Prime: 4224 ETH and 6961 ETH, totaling 11185 ETH, valued at over 27 million dollars (Ainvest).
Strategy not speculation
On June 20, BlackRock’s spot Ethereum ETF saw an outflow of 19.7 million dollars, the first after 30 days of inflows. Analysts believe this was part of a portfolio adjustment rather than a sign of retreat. Ethereum purchases resumed strongly the next day (Ainvest).
BlackRock now holds over 1.48 million ETH
Estimates suggest that BlackRock now holds more than 1.48 million Ethereum, worth over 4 billion dollars at current prices. This makes BlackRock one of the largest institutional holders of Ethereum worldwide (Finbold).
What this means for Ethereum
This level of institutional investment shows real confidence. With Ethereum at the core of decentralized finance, smart contracts, and tokenization, BlackRock’s ongoing purchases suggest they see ETH as more than just a cryptocurrency. It is being treated as a foundation for the financial systems of the future.
Final thoughts
BlackRock’s Ethereum accumulation – backed by verified on chain data and ETF inflows – marks a new phase. With hundreds of millions invested and daily activity continuing, Ethereum has clearly earned a place in the portfolios of the world’s most powerful financial institutions.
